Raspberry Pi NoIR Camera Module V2 - 8MP 1080P30 The Raspberry Pi NoIR Camera V2 is the “night vision” version of the official camera board released by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. This Raspberry Pi Camera has no Infrared filter, which makes it perfect for taking Infrared photographs or photographing objects in low light (twilight) conditions! The Infrared Camera Module V2 (Pi NoIR) replaced the original Pi NoIR Camera Module in April 2016. This PiNoIR Camera module features an ultra-high quality 8-megapixel Sony IMX219 image sensor (up from 5MP on the V1 camera board), and a fixed focus camera lens. The V2 Picamera module is capable of 3280 x 2464 pixel static images, and also supports 1080p30, 720p60, and 640x480p90 video. The module attaches to Raspberry Pi by way of a 15 Pin Ribbon Cable, to the dedicated 15-pin MIPI Camera Serial Interface (CSI), which was designed especially for interfacing with cameras. The CSI bus is capable of extremely high data rates, and it exclusively carries pixel data to the BCM2835 processor. The Pi camera itself is tiny, at around 25mm x 23mm x 9mm, and weighs just over 3g. It's capable of 3280 x 2464 pixel static images, and also supports 1080p30, 720p60, and 640x480p60/90 video. It attaches to the Pi by way of one of the small sockets on the board's upper surface and uses the dedicated CSI interface, designed especially for interfacing the Raspberry Pi with cameras. The Pi NoIR Camera gives you everything the regular Camera Module does, but it has one key difference: it doesn’t have an infrared filter (NoIR means No Infrared). This makes daytime photos look a bit unusual, but it allows you to see in the dark when using infrared light. This camera works with all Raspberry Pi models 1, 2, and 3. You can access it through the MMAL and V4L APIs, and there are many third-party libraries for it, including the Picamera Python library.
