SmartElex u-blox MAX-M10S GNSS Module Breakout The SmartElex u-blox MAX-M10S GNSS Module Breakout is a compact, ultra-low power GNSS module designed for precision positioning in battery-operated applications such as asset trackers, wearables, and IoT devices. Powered by the u-blox MAX-M10S GNSS receiver, it supports multi-constellation tracking including GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo while consuming less than 25 mW in continuous tracking mode. u-blox Super-S technology enhances RF sensitivity, enabling accurate location fixes even with small antennas and in non-line-of-sight conditions. An on-board rechargeable backup battery maintains the RTC and GNSS orbit data for up to 5 hours, reducing time-to-first-fix from a ~24 s cold start to a ~1 s hot start. The board includes an SMA connector for external antennas, 0.1″ spaced pins for breadboard use, and a UART interface compatible with standard serial adapters. Configuration options such as baud rate, update rate, spoofing detection, and interrupts can be easily managed using the u-blox u-center software, making this low power GNSS module a reliable choice for high-accuracy positioning applications. Note: The MAX-M10S's I2C address is 0x42, which is software programmable. A multiplexer/Mux is required to communicate with many MAX-M10S boards with the same address on a single bus. Features: 1.5m Horizontal Accuracy 10Hz Max Update Rate Hot: 1sMax Altitude: 80,000m Max G: ≤4 Max Velocity: 500m/s Velocity Accuracy: 0.05m/s Heading Accuracy: 0.3 degrees Time Pulse Accuracy: 30ns 3.3V VCC and I/O Current Consumption: ~6mA to ~25mA (varies with constellations and tracking state) Supports NMEA and UBX protocols over I2C or UART interfaces
