The A3967 comes with a fixed off-time current regulator that can operate in slow, fast, or mixed current-decay modes. This current-decay control scheme produces less audible motor noise, higher step accuracy, and lower power dissipation. The transistor is essential to the A3967's simple implementation. Simply sending one pulse to the STEP input causes the motor to move one step (full, half, quarter, or eighth depending on two logic inputs).
