20A ACS712 Current Sensor The 20A ACS712 Range Current Sensor Module ACS712 consists of a precise, low-offset, linear Hall circuit with a copper conduction path located near the surface of the die. Applied current flowing through this copper conduction path generates a magnetic field in which the Hall IC converts into a proportional voltage. Sensing and controlling current flow is a fundamental requirement in a wide variety of applications including, over-current protection circuits, battery chargers, switching mode power supplies, digital watt meters, programmable current sources, etc. Connection Diagram of Arduino Uno with Current Sensor : Fig: Connection of ACS712 Current Sensor with Arduino UNO Curve of relation between the DC input voltage and measuring current: Fig : Output Voltage vs. Sensed Voltage Features: Hall Effect-Based Sensor: Utilizes the Hall effect for current measurement, providing electrical isolation. Analog Voltage Output: Produces an analog voltage proportional to the current passing through the sensor. High Accuracy: Offers precise current measurement with low offset and linear output. Wide Measurement Range: Can measure currents from -20A to +20A. Sensitivity: 100mV/A, meaning the output voltage changes by 100mV for every ampere of current. Supply Voltage: Operates at 5V. Compact Size: Dimensions are typically around 32x15mm Applications: Power Monitoring: Used to monitor power consumption in various devices and systems. Battery Management Systems: Measures current flow in battery-operated systems to ensure proper charging and discharging. Motor Control: Provides precise current measurement for controlling motors in various applications. Overcurrent Protection: Detects overcurrent conditions to protect circuits from damage. Inverters and SMPS: Used in inverters and switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) for current measurement and control. Electric Vehicle Charging Stations: Monitors and controls current in high-power charging stations. Heavy Machinery: Measures current in heavy machinery for performance analysis and maintenance. Automotive Applications: Used in automotive systems like power steering and inverters.
