The CSI bus is capable of extremely high data rates, and it exclusively carries pixel data to the BCM2835 processor. The Pi camera itself is tiny, at around 25mm x 23mm x 9mm, and weighs just over 3g. It's capable of 3280 x 2464 pixel static images, and also supports 1080p30, 720p60, and 640x480p60/90 video. It attaches to the Pi by way of one of the small sockets on the board's upper surface and uses the dedicated CSI interface, designed especially for interfacing the Raspberry Pi with cameras. The Pi NoIR Camera gives you everything the regular Camera Module does, but it has one key difference: it doesn’t have an infrared filter (NoIR means No Infrared). This makes daytime photos look a bit unusual, but it allows you to see in the dark when using infrared light. This camera works with all Raspberry Pi models 1, 2, and 3. You can access it through the MMAL and V4L APIs, and there are many third-party libraries for it, including the Picamera Python library.
