VL53L0X Laser Ranging Sensor The VL53L0X laser ranging sensor from ST Microelectronics is a time-of-flight ranging system integrated into a compact module. This time-of-flight (TOF) measurement enables it to accurately determine the absolute distance to a target without the object's reflectance greatly influencing the measurement. Applications: Obstacle detection in robotics. Hand detection in hand driers, soap dispensers, faucets, etc. Gesture recognition in one dimension. Widely used in-camera autofocus to enhance the camera performance in low light or fast-moving objects conditions. Used as a proximity sensor in many phones.
